The Pasadena Museum of History – conveniently located at Walnut Street – is devoted exclusively to the preservation of local culture. Here you can unfold the mesmerizing stories of Pasadena's public parks, including such lost treasures as Tournament Park. Descanso Garden is a popular botanical garden consisting of 165 acres of threes, plants and flowers. In this garden you can walk through 35 acres of camellias, relax in a California Oak forest and smell the sweet scents from five acres of different roses. Descanso Gardens also holds a bird observation station.
Pasadena offers top quality education for all ages, including the California Institute of Technology, which manages the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. While living in Pasadena the Huntington Hospital will provide you with outstanding health care. This community-based hospital was founded in 1892 and is affiliated with the University of Southern California School of Medicine.
California mountain wilderness begins just a few miles from the city and includes the San Gabriel Mountains, Mt. Baldy, San Gabriel Canyon and Big Santa Anita Canyon. In addition to the big shopping malls, Pasadena also boasts a lot of smaller shops selling highly specialised items like boutique maternity clothing, world famous award winning chocolates and truffles, and advanced rock climbing gear.
